The Center for Great Expectations, a residential treatment center for homeless pregnant women/teens, will have a WALK-A-THON on Sunday, September 16, beginning at 1:00 p.m. The 3 mile walk will begin and end at Immaculata High School, Mountain Avenue, Somerville, NJ. The Diocese of Metuchen will be holding a Critical Life Issues Conference on Saturday, October 27, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the St. John Neumann Conference Center, Piscataway. Bishop Bootkoski will celebrate the opening Mass at 8:30 a.m. The conference will address a wide spectrum of issues. GOOD SAMARITANS WANTED St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Joseph Parish is seeking new members. Are you interested in any of these ministries: Client Services: Visiting needy clients to assess their needs - we will train; Food Pantry: Distribute food monthly to families; Fund Raising: Ideas to raise funds for clients’ needs; Spirituality: Lead members at monthly meetings in spiritual readings/reflection. St. Vincent de Paul meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the church hall. Brochures available in Narthex or call 732-541-6003.
· Middlesex East WOW’s, a group for widows or widowers, sponsored by the Diocese of Metuchen, will hold a Memorial Mass for Deceased Spouses on Monday, September 10, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. All widowed persons are invited to attend the Mass and the WOW’s monthly meeting at the Community Center following Mass. Refreshments will be served. |

· The Diocese of Metuchen Office of Evangelization offers... Prepare to Lead is a Catholic Bible Study Training Course that offers a basic introduction to the Sacred Scriptures for people who desire to understand the Bible better and/or may wish to facilitate Bible Studies. The classes lay a foundation in the Catholic approach to reading and interpreting the Word of God. All who are interested in growing in their knowledge and love of the Scriptures are invited to participate. The course will be offered in several locations in English and Spanish and will begin in September and run through May. Pre-registration is required. Adventures in Matthew Seminar will be held on Saturday, October 6, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, Kendall Park. Presented by Ted Sri, a professor of Theology at Benedictine College, Atchison, Kansas and author of The Mystery of the Kingdom: on the Gospel of Matthew. Pre-registration is required.
