Life is. . . Mother Teresa Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is beauty, admire it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it.
The Reason for the Season Christmas lights that twinkle In the cold December night, Trees dressed up with tinsel Are such a pretty sight. Presents wrapped and labeled And placed beneath the tree, Children watch and wonder Just what their gifts might be. People running here and there With little time to spare, Many have forgotten Why Christmastime is there! So many things to purchase, So many things to do. . . Have you stopped to think What Christmas means to you? For some it just means money, And how much they can make, To others, just a ritual, A game of give and take. Christmas is so much more than this A time for us to share, When God’s Son was sent down to us Our sins for Him to bear. The love that He has shown to all, The gift that He has given, Should shine each year above all else, At every Christmas season!
ADVENT Suggestions Create an Advent wreath for your home and light it at mealtime. Make a donation to the Food Pantry so that they may provide Holiday Baskets to families in need. Share an Advent calendar with special scripture references or activities with your family. Give yourselves to the poor by selecting a tag from the Giving Tree and purchasing additional presents for those who have so little Have a family night each week where you gather together and share prayers and songs in preparation for Christmas. Make plans to attend Eucharistic Adoration for some time on Thursdays during Advent.
Five Steps to a Good Confession 1. Examine your Conscience 2. Be sincerely sorry for your sins. 3. Confess your sins. 4. Resolve to amend your life. 5. Do the penance the priest assigns.
. during Advent.
PRAY AND FAST FOR VOCATIONS Eternal God, Open wide the doors of our hearts to Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us, and all who desire to serve You, to know how to respond to Your call. Through the gift of baptism You invite us to witness to the grace of Your love. Bless all women and men whom You call to serve the Church as priests, deacons, sisters, or brothers. May they be bold and joyful witnesses to the presence of Your Incarnate Son, and to the breath of the Spirit in our world. Amen.
If you attend weekend Mass at one of the Parishes in Carteret: St. Joseph, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, Holy Family, or Sacred Heart, you may put your donation envelope in their collection basket during Mass. The Pastors have agreed to forward these donations to the correct Parish. Thank you!
